5 Benefits of Using Lift and Learn Technology in Retail Stores

June 28, 2023
Introduction

In the ever-evolving world of retail, businesses are constantly seeking innovative ways to enhance the shopping experience and drive customer engagement. One such technology that has gained popularity is lift and learn. This cutting-edge solution allows customers to interact with products in a unique and interactive manner. In this article, we will explore the five benefits of using lift and learn technology in retail stores, and how it can revolutionise the way customers discover and engage with products.

1. Enhanced Customer Engagement

Lift and learn technology brings a new level of engagement to the in-store experience. By integrating sensors or RFID tags with products, customers can simply lift an item or place it on a designated area to trigger relevant information, such as product details, pricing, availability, and even customer reviews. This interactive experience captivates shoppers, piquing their curiosity and encouraging them to explore products further. By actively engaging customers, lift and learn technology helps create memorable shopping experiences that increase brand loyalty.

2. Empowering Product Exploration

Gone are the days of static product displays. Lift and learn technology allows customers to interact with items, providing a hands-on experience that enhances their ability to explore and evaluate products. Shoppers can lift a product, triggering digital screens or interactive displays that showcase additional information, complementary items, or even virtual demonstrations. This empowers customers to make more informed purchasing decisions and facilitates cross-selling or upselling opportunities for retailers.

3. Seamless Inventory Management

One significant benefit of lift and learn technology is its ability to streamline inventory management. By incorporating RFID tags or sensors into products, retailers can track inventory levels in real-time. Whenever a customer interacts with a product, the system can automatically update stock levels, providing accurate information to store associates and ensuring that popular items are promptly restocked. This eliminates manual inventory checks, reduces out-of-stock situations, and optimises overall operational efficiency.

4. Personalised Recommendations

Lift and learn technology can be integrated with customer data and analytics, enabling retailers to deliver personalised recommendations. By capturing information about a customer's interaction with products, such as the items they lift, the duration of interaction, and previous purchase history, the system can offer tailored suggestions or promotions. This personalised approach creates a more relevant and engaging shopping experience, increasing the chances of conversion and customer satisfaction.

5. Valuable Data Insights

The data collected through lift and learn technology provides retailers with valuable insights into customer behaviour and preferences. By analysing the interaction patterns, retailers can identify popular products, understand customer interests, and gain insights into buying trends. This data-driven approach enables retailers to make informed decisions about product placement, marketing strategies, and inventory management, ultimately driving sales and improving overall business performance.

Conclusion

Lift and learn technology has emerged as a game-changer in the retail industry, revolutionising the way customers interact with products and enhancing the shopping experience. From increased engagement and empowered product exploration to seamless inventory management, personalised recommendations, and valuable data insights, the benefits of using lift and learn technology in retail stores are undeniable. By embracing this innovative technology, retailers can differentiate themselves, captivate customers, and stay ahead in the ever-competitive retail landscape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Discover how our Lift & Learn technology works, what’s included, and how our flexible pricing makes it easy to get started. If you have any other questions, our team is always here to help.

How does Lift & Learn technology work?

When a customer lifts a product fitted with an XTAG® Sensor, it automatically triggers digital content — such as videos, specifications, or promotions on nearby screens. This creates an engaging, interactive user experience without the need for apps or scanning QR codes.

What hardware is needed for a Lift & Learn setup?

You’ll need our XTAG® USB-Controller, XTAG® Sensors, a compatible digital display (with Android OS or external media player), and your digital content ready to upload. We also offer optional accessories like security tethers and custom stands.

Can I manage content myself?

Yes! With our CMS Plus or Analytics Pro software licenses, you can remotely update, manage, and schedule content across all your connected displays from an easy-to-use dashboard. Our Standalone (free) license allows you to update content locally with a keyboard and mouse.

How is the software priced?

We offer three license tiers:

Standalone App (Free) – Basic lift & learn functionality without remote updates or analytics.

CMS-Plus (£58/year or £6/month) – Full remote content management.

Analytics Pro (£90/year or £9/month) – Content management plus advanced usage analytics.

Licenses are priced per Controller, allowing flexibility based on your project size.

What happens if I want to upgrade my software license?

You can upgrade anytime! If you're switching from CMS Plus to Analytics Pro mid-term, we'll automatically credit any unused portion of your current plan toward your new subscription.
