By partnering with XTAG®, they introduced an interactive Lift & Learn system that allowed attendees to explore tools in a more natural and engaging way—by picking them up and placing them on a smart podium that triggered dynamic product content.

Challenge

The Solution: Smart Podium with Proximity-Based Triggering

Working with XTAG®, DuroFix implemented a custom Lift & Learn experience that went beyond traditional shelf sensors. Each tool on display was fitted with an XTAG® motion sensor configured with custom RSSI (signal strength) settings, allowing it to trigger content only when it was placed within range of a designated podium.

Here’s how it worked:

  • A visitor picked up a power tool from the display wall
  • They walked over to the podium out of curiosity or guidance
  • Upon placing the tool on the podium, a nearby screen would automatically play a detailed product video—highlighting key features, use cases, technical specifications, and benefits
  • If a different tool was placed, the screen would instantly update to show relevant content

This dynamic setup created a more natural and memorable flow: customers explored on their own, guided only by their curiosity and the product in their hands.

Results

The response from both attendees and DuroFix’s sales team was overwhelmingly positive:

  • Stand engagement rose by 52% compared to previous trade shows
  • Visitors spent 2x more time interacting with products than in standard display setups
